Playa Dorada offers splendid fine sand and a beautiful bay with a rocky island in the middle. The Village Beach in the Center of Playa Blanca
Village beach in Playa Blanca - a small sandy beach in the village center below the lively beach promenade.

For holiday guests, the beach promenade is the heart of Playa Blanca: hundreds of restaurants, coffee bars, pubs, souvenir shops, fashion boutiques and arcades line the streets. Especially at lunchtime and in the evenings from 19.00 clock on, when the day-trippers returning from the beaches, it is very crowded and very often it is necessary to wait in front of a restaurant for a free dinner table. By the way, the beach promenade is over 10 km long, continuously paved or tarred and lit in the evenings.

Harbor of Playa Blanca

Fred Olsen Express to Fuerteventura
Also Fred.Olsen Express connects Lanzarote with Fuerteventura regularly.

Playa Blanca provides two ferries that connect the island of Lanzarote with the island of Fuerteventura, which is only 11.5 km away. Almost hourly the two fast ferries "ARMAS" and "Fred Olsen" connect both islands. So you can also explore Fuerteventura via the ferry and visit the village "Corralejo" and the wide sandy beaches in the north of Fuerteventura.

Submarine Tour Boat in Playa Blanca

The small port is also the home of tour boats which go nearly daily to the Papagayo beaches and the island of Lobos. In the small harbor there is also a Submarina tour boat, with which you can book real underwater tours. Many small fishing boats of the local fisher men are here in the port as well as some sport boats. Here in the harbor you can buy fresh fish in the fish shop for your grill party at home or you may enjoy fresh fish of the day and daily fresh seafood, prepared in one of the typical restaurants of this area.

Marina Rubicón - sports marina and tourist center with restaurants and shops

A new highlight is the "Marina Rubicón" sports marina with all its magnificent facilities. It is not necessary to park your yacht in the marina, to visit this place. Marina Rubicón offers the holidaymaker many fine restaurants, pizza and snack bars, coffee shops, cosmetics, costume jewellery and exclusive fashion shops. It's nice to stroll through the very stylish facilities, the wooden bridges along the super yachts and pleasure crafts.

Every Wednesday and Saturday between 10.00 clock and 14.00 clock a tourist market invites people and turns the Rubicón marina into a bustling bazaar with countless sales stalls of handicrafts, leather goods, natural cosmetics, clothes, towels, belts, shirts, hats, souvenirs, "kitsch and stuff" and much more ... to buy and to bring home as souvenir from Lanzarote.

And then there are the "Papagayo Beaches" · the natural and unique sandy beaches in the nature reserve "Los Ajaches" in the far east of Playa Blanca.

Papagayo-SchönheitIf you want to get there, there are two possibilities: 1. You park in the urbanization "Las Coloradas" below the hotel "Papagayo Arena" at the beginning of the natural park Los Ajaches and walk in about 20 minutes over one or two dusty hilltops to the wide and up to 400 m long sandy beaches (backpack, sneakers, definitely take sunscreen and drinking water with you). It is possible to take the bus from Playa Blanca village to Las Coloradas - every half hour a city bus stops.

(More information about Papagayo Beaches can be found here)

Playa El Papagayo

2. You take the car and drive the 5 km long dusty, bumpy dirt road to one of the parking spaces in front of the various coves and beaches (toll-road fee per car per day). It's just a real Lanzarote natural park - a dusty, sandy desert landscape without trees and without shade - but for having beautiful beaches and crystal clear water as reward. At the end of the road above the Playa El Papagayo (pictured above), there are even some small bars serving drinks and snacks on lovely shadyoverlooking the bay and beach.

Around Playa Blanca there are wonderful sightseeing locations and attractions where you can get to know in our virtual tour. The best is to rent a car and drive yourself to these fantastic and unique places of the mystic island of Lanzarote.

Playa Blanca gives lots of possibilities to enjoy holidays and to choose an accommodation as you like it: 5-star-hotels with all comfort, all-inclusive-hotels for good price, aparthotels, adult hotels (without children), family hotels, private homes, villas and apartments. On the countryside not far away from Playa Blanca - in the villages Maciot, Las Breñas and Casitas de Femés - there are private country homes, private villas with pool and romantic places offside the masses to relax with high privacy.
